NOAA R/V Shang Wheeler NOAA R/V Victor Loosanoff

Milford Laboratory has acquired recently from the Coast Guard a 49-ft vessel, built in 1995, which will be refitted as a replacement for the R/V Shang Wheeler. The "Shang" is a wooden boat, that has served the Laboratory well since its launching in 1951. The new vessel will be named the R/V Victor Loosanoff after the first Director of Milford Laboratory. The R/V Loosanoff will provide a versatile platform to conduct marine research in coastal waters.
